Reference: Using a powered USB hub

You should usually plug your USB receiver module directly into one of the PC's USB ports.  Normally, this will provide sufficient power ( 1.5 mA)  for the USB receiver module. On some older systems the USB ports may not provide enough power, causing an intermittent video streaming problem.  Older laptop computers are known to have this problem more often.

Try different USB plugs on your PC if you experience difficulties. Often the plugs located on the back of PCs have better performance than those on the front.  If you are using multiple USB devices which draw power from your PC this issue is more likely to occur. You should try disconnecting other USB devices to reduce power load and confirm that underpowered USB is causing this issue.

If you experience this problem, try connecting the USB receiver module to your PC through an external powered USB hub. We have tested and recommend using either the Radio Shack USB 1.1 4-port hub (Cat. no. 26-955) or the Belkin USB 2.0 7-port hub (P/N F5U237).
