There are many different types of devices that can be used when watching TV. Some just change channels, while others provide recording options and additional features. When creating a Watch TV Activity, choose the option that best suits your setup.
The following Watch TV activity types are available in the Harmony remote software:
- Watch TV (Digital cable, Basic cable, Antenna)
- Watch TV (DVR or PVR other than TiVo)
- Watch TV (TiVo)
- Watch TV (Replay TV)
- Watch TV (Media Center PC)
Watch TV (Digital cable, Basic cable, Antenna)
This is the most common option. It involves using any type of channel changing device (the TV itself, a cable box, a digital set top box, satellite, etc.) but does not involve the ability to record or play back pre-recorded programming.
Watch TV (TiVo)This option is specific to users with a TiVo. The Activity is optimized to give easy access to TiVo commands such as thumbs up/down and for recording and watching recorded TV. To use this option, you must have a TiVo in your Harmony remote account.
Watch TV (DVR or PVR other than TiVo)This option is specific to users with a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) or DVR (Digital Video Recorder). The activity is optimized to give easy access to commands that allow you to record and watch recorded TV. To use this option, you must have a PVR or DVR in your Harmony remote account.
Watch TV (Media Center PC)This option is for users with a Media Center PC. The Activity is optimized to give easy access to commands that allow you to record and watch recorded TV on the Media Center PC. To select this activity type, you must have a Media Center PC in your Harmony remote account.
Watch TV (Replay TV)This option is specific to users with a Replay TV device. The Activity is optimized to give easy access to commands that allow you to record and watch recorded TV on the Replay TV. To select this option, you must have a Replay TV device in your Harmony remote account.
