WiLife Security System uses HomePlug technology to create a video network using the existing electrical wiring of your home or small business. The technical range of HomePlug is 300 meters, or about 900 feet. The more practical measure is support for a property of up to 8000 square feet. Homeplug works best when the power outlets used to power the cameras and PC USB receiver share the same breaker box. Please see Knowledge Base article 360023208714 to for information on how to check your camera connection.
NOTE: Some outlets are controlled by wall switch an may be accidentally switched off. You may want to test outlet by using a small lamp.
An alternative way to extend coverage is to run a longer Ethernet cable from the plugged-in camera power supply to the WiLife Indoor camera. The maximum cable distance between the camera and the camera power supply is 80 feet (using Cat 5 Ethernet cable). For more information on HomePlug technology, read about this technology on the WiLife web site or see the HomePlug Technical Overview or HomePlug Product Overview from the Intellon web site.
