The MX 5000 keyboard gives audio signals for certain events such as:
- Turning on the keyboard. When the keyboard is switched on, one short high pitched audio signal occurs.
- Turning off the keyboard. When the keyboard is switched off, one short lower pitched audio signal occurs.
NOTE: The on or off keyboard audio signals are fixed and cannot be disabled in Logitech’s Mouse and Keyboard software (SetPoint).
The remaining keyboard audio signals listed below can be enabled or disabled in SetPoint:
- An audio signal indicating a Caps Lock status change
- An audio signal indicating an F key status change.
- An audio signal indicating new e-mail has been received.
To enable or disable these options:

Open SetPoint (Start > Programs > Logitech > Mouse and Keyboard > Mouse and Keyboard Settings).

Click the My Keyboard tab at the top of the window and select the Keyboard Preferences tab on the left side (shown below).

Under Alert Preferences, click the “Play a sound” checkbox if you want an audio signal to inform you of new e-mail. Uncheck the checkbox if you want to disable this function.

Under Keyboard Preferences click the “Beep when I press Caps Lock and Mode F Keys” checkbox if you want an audio signal to inform you of these status changes. Uncheck the checkbox if you want to disable this function.

Click Apply and OK to save the setting when you are finished making changes .
